Rinpoche Reviews the Cat Toy Wand Making Kit
Today, Daddi had some exciting news for me:
“Rinpoche the Wand Kit is here!”
“What is it Daddi? What’s so urgent that I need to be woken up so early in the morning? Have you forgotten that Caturday is a day of rest for cats?”
“Every day is a day of rest for cats, Rinpoche. Besides, I’ve bought you a gift. It’s a wand making kit. I need you to review it for me.”
“A wand making kit Daddi? Have I got to make something? You know I don’t like to work on Caturdays.”
“No, Rinpoche. I’m going to make you a wand toy featuring all of your favourite things that you like to play with.”
“Great! I really like to play with moving shadows or with Mittens, the kitten from next door. And I also like playing with the wool from Mummi’s craft basket and with birds.”
“Well, OK. Maybe it won’t feature everything you like to play with, but we can certainly include things that are going to quench your thirst for wool and birds. At least you won’t get told off for playing with this wand toy. You have my full permission to do so.”
“Can I start playing now, Daddi?”
“No, Rinpoche. I need to make the toy, first. Why don’t you have a little nap in the meantime?”
*Several hours later*
“Daddi, I’ve had to wait so long for my wand, but you seem very pleased with your creation. By the looks of things, you have certainly enjoyed yourself and learned some new skills.”
“I have indeed, Rinpoche! Just look at this! There’s a felt fish with a jingly bell inside, a wool pompom that you can chase to your heart’s content, and lots of tickly, colourful feathers, just like the birds you enjoy so much.”
“I love it Daddi! Catch it! Got to get it! Where’s it gone? There it is! Got … to … grab … that … feather!”
*Several hours later*
As a discerning cat, I gave the wand kit an impressive 5/5 paws! I didn’t like the waiting, but it kept Daddi out of mischief for a while, and he learned how to sew. It doesn’t top dinner time, but I love it all the same. I recommend that you get one too.
